Busy Saturday

Luke had his first baby food - rice cereal - on Saturday. He looked both adorable and so big in his new high chair! Today he got to use his first cup and had a couple sips of water. Winston did a good job assembling yet another piece of baby gear.

Then on Saturday night we had a family outing to the BBQ Cook-Off which is part of the kick-off for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. It was quite the experience - there are private tents and you need a ticket to get into them. We had passes for the Local 2 tent (named "2 Steppin'") and thought it would be fun to go early, get some food, and get out before the craziness began. There is free food and alcohol in the tents and I had heard that it is pretty much one big party as the night goes on.

Well, things didn't go quite so smootly. It was windy and cold so we were bundled up for our several block walk from $10 parking to Reliant Park. There was LOUD music coming from every tent and even louder once we got inside ours. Not quite baby friendly! No place to sit in the tent and the food wasn't even being served yet. We found a chair so I could feed Luke (Thank God I brought bottles!), got drinks and hung out for a while.

When the food finally came the line was longer than our desire for BBQ so we headed back into the wind to find our way home. We stopped at another tent where a couple of my girlfriends were to say Hello, then came home and made a Boboli pizza. It was quite the outing with not much to show for it but at least we can say we've been to it.
